"Om Veda mata namaha"
Hello! Friends as i have said earlier these post's will contain my travel and and other experiences which i feel good enough to share with the world. Today i want to share with you my experience about going to a temple called "Kamalashile Brahmi Durga Parameshwari Temple".
Whenever I start on tour or any work for that matter it is my policy to always visit sri sharadambha temple or pray to her and then proceed. This is my unwritten policy because seeing and worshiping mother before any work is important to get success in that work.
I do not have a own vehicle so i always travel by KSRTC and private buses to all these sacred location's and hence all my details will invariably contain about going to these temple's by buses.
Now about going to Kamalashile temple>>
I am going to give you details about visiting this temple from Sringeri. This will include information about taking the right bus and also following the correct route to reach this temple. By this information I believe you can save time and money and reach your destination quickly.
Now lets start>> Assume you are already in Sringeri and you want to visit the kamalashile temple. The first thing you have to do is to have darshan of Sri Sharadhambha and and Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya. Then visit the Vidyashankara temple and also the surrounding temples not to forget the samadhi's of late guru's and also the kaalabhairava temple which is just 10 minutes walk from Guru Nivas.. Now you are ready for travel. First go to the bus stand which is about 10 minutes from the mutt {or else wait in-front of the mutt for the bus} with your luggage. Board the bus going to "Thirthalli". Buy the ticket to "Kaimara" stop. Kaimara is about one and half hour journey from the mutt. Now get down at Kaimara stop and wait for the bus going to "Siddapura". The present ticket rate is Rs.30/-. from Sringeri to "Kaimara stop.
There are different buses [private] going to Siddapura. Now from Kaimara board the bus going to Siddapura. Siddapura is another hour and half journey from Kaimara. The bus stops at Siddapura bus stand itself. From Kaimara to Siddapura the ticket rate is almost similar to the above mentioned price. From the Siddapura bus stand you have to take another bus leaving to Kamalashile temple. Now get into that bus and it will be half-an-hour journey to the temple from the Siddapura bus stand. You have to get down at the Arch and walk a little[ very little distance] to see the temple. The ticket rate from Siddapura Bus stand to the temple is about Rs.7/-.
You are now officially in Kamalashile temple.
You can see that there is a river that runs beside the temple and there is small bridge that is built across it. The whole area belongs to ghat section and forest area. There is also a small canal like structure on the other side of the temple and here water from the Cave[moolasthana], rain water from forest get mixed together and flow. So you can imagine this temple to to be similar in design to that of "Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple".
The Devi here is very much similar to Sri Kollur Mookambika Devi and also there is Shivalinga in front of the Devi. There was some renovation work going on when i visited the temple. But that didn't hamper my plans. There are lot of other god's and goddess inside the prakara of the temple along with the Navagraha Temple [like that is usually found in Many of the Temples in Bangalore].
After having darshan you can now go to the cave or the moolasthana. You need to be guided to that spot and hence ask someone there to help you with finding the way to cave. If you prefer to go by auto the charge will be around Rs. 40-45/-. But some may demand Rs.100/- and they will drop you to Siddapura bus stand for hundred rupees.. The guide charge will be Rs.50/-
Take the guide "IF AND ONLY IF YOU ARE VISITING THE TEMPLE FIRST TIME".
The visit to the cave requires you to have "An Emergency lamp OR a Powerful Torch" as light is required for your journey to progress inside the cave and also to keep yourself safe from falling as the grounds are slippery. There are lots of bats inside the cave and hence it is advised to be careful inside the cave. Around 20-25 minutes is required to have a proper look around the cave and come back. After you have seen the cave come back to the temple if necessary or directly go to the Siddapura bus stand. IF you are planning to stay there, no problem, there are rooms available there for reasonable prices.
Be sure to be back at the bus stand between 5:30 to 6:00PM.[ Not later than that].
